I remember reading the Weird Things Customers Say In Bookshops blog after Neil Gaiman tweeted about it. It was quite some time ago and was quite hilarious. So when I stumbled upon the book, which wasn't too expensive, I decided to buy it.

It's a collection of things customers really said in the bookshops the author worked in, the kind of things that make you want to facepalm so hard. It's something fun to pass the time, that you can just open at a random page if you want something to smile about.

There's not much else to tell you about it, really. No plot, no big themes, just slices of life that remind you of how funny or silly or weird people can be.

Okay, so I've seen this thing around my flist lately and got curious. The point of this challenge is to blog a hundred times on a subject. Yeah, that's a lot, but there's no time limit at all, so...

I decided what the hell, why not try it! I will probably forget about it at some point, or else it'll take me years, but whatever. The theme I'm going with is going to be "100 books". It might be books Ive just finished, books I'm in the middle of, books I've read a long time ago, books I loved, books I hated, books I want to read, novels or non-fiction, books in English, books in French, books in Italian... though I promess not to blog in Italian. :P

So, it's started again. And this time around, I know what's going to happen since I'm something like a hundred page into book three. My first opinion of the episode is "damn, things are going fast! And slightly out of order, too, but it works. Also, yay, Dragonstone now appears on the opening map!

Underneath are some more developped thoughts. Spoilers for episode 2.01 and slightly for the books (I guess mostly stuff that won't happen or have been slightly changed or might be confusing).

All in all the changes they made were smart, they don't have the time to go into every little detail, especially with the books growing longer and longer and them still having the same amount of episodes. also, with everything happening so fast it gives the show a great sense of epicness.

Still, glad I'm reading the books.

Also, I need a GoT icon. Any recs?

Ça y est, la cinquième édition du défi Sex Is Not The Enemy est terminée! Certains textes sont arrivés un poil après la deadline, mais j'ai pour habitude d'inclure tout ce qui est posté avant que je compile la masterliste. :)

C'est toujours un plaisir que d'organiser ce défi, l'enthousiasme des tous, nouveaux participants comme habitués, me motive à continuer! Je songe toutefois à ne pas renouveler ce défi avant la prochaine St Valentin, afin de pouvoir proposer cet été un défi de promptage par image plus général et donc ouvert à plus de monde, quelque chose inspiré plus directement de picfor1000 mais probablement sans la contrainte de mots. Laissez-moi savoir ce que vous en pensez.

Mais revenons-en à nos moutons. Cette fois-ci, nous sommes 27 à avoir créé pas moins de 35 œuvres (34 fictions et un dessin)! C'est comme la plupart du temps les fictions originales qui ont été majoritaires (elles sont au nombre de 16), mais les fandoms ne sont pas en reste puisqu'ils sont eux aussi au nombre de 16. La longueur des textes varie de 308 à 6'750 mots, les ratings de G à NC-17, et on retrouve toutes sortes de styles de textes, allant du pur fluff au drame. Voilà qui illustre bien la variété de la communauté francophone de LJ!

Voici donc sans plus vous faire attendre la masterliste des œuvres! Je les posterai sur archive_sinte dans la semaine qui vient. N'oubliez pas de laisser des commentaires pour les auteurs/artistes, ça ne prend pas longtemps et ça fait toujours plaisir!

First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
I'm not sure... I'd say Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but there might have been something before that.

First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
Harry Potter. It was my first fandom ever: made me discover what fanfics where, made me write fanfics, made me RP, made me meet people irl. *Fond memories*

Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
Harry/Draco. I remember the fic quite well, I even re-read it a while ago, though in English (I'd read the French translation back then). It's still a pretty good fic, though the style is a bit clumsy in the early chapters.

First RPS/RPF I read:
I...honestly have no idea. I think it might have been something about HP actors, but for a loooong time I was just not interested in RPF at all.

First fanfiction I read that made me think, YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...
The first fic I read, actually. It was called "Les Portes" ("The Doors") and was a time-travel, multi-chapter, ultra-long, extremely well written story. The author really had created a brand new whole universe. Unfortunately she made us wait sooooo long between chapters that at some point (probably a couple of years after I first stumbled on it), I just stopped reading it because I couldn't remember all that had happened before. (A quick look on ff.net tells me the fic is about 640'000 words.)

Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
I wrote a few gen scribblings, but they don't really count. Nope, first fic with a pairing. This one's going to look strange, isn't it. It was Harry Potter/Salazar Slytherin. I still like that story, though parts of it (and the style, oh lord the style!) are quite clumsy and cliches. ^^

First OTP:
Harry Potter/Severus Snape, though I've always been a multi-shipper so the notion of OTP is not really something I agree with. SS/HP was more a fav' pairing than an OTP. I just don't do OTPs. :P

First RPS/F OTP:
Again, I don't do OTPs.

First fannish friend I met in person:
Oeil-de-Nuit, who was on the same HP discussion forum as me and turned out to be going to the same highschool! XD We're still good irl friends (and people have no clue we met on the Internet :P).

First character I formally roleplayed:
Formally, that would be Snape. I played him for a loooong time. Though I'd played Voldemort a tiny bit in a crack, Big-Brother style silly RP before that. Don't ask. XD

You guys need to bug me so I update this more often. Because if your Twitter timeline looks like mine and we don't happen to be connected at the same time, chances are you don't get any news from me and I don't get any news from you and that's just sad.

So, what's up? I'm finally caught up on Supernatural, and I'll do my best not to fall behind again. This season is better than last year's, I grant you that, but it still doesn't have me all excited the way it used to. They've been having some nice guest stars though. Jason Dohring <3!

I'm also caught up with Glee, because I needed something cheerful to watch between the gloom SPN episodes. I think they're under-using poor Damian, who is more often than not just doing some background singing and dancing. I mean, Lindsey, who only got two episodes, got a better role than he did. (For those who didn't watch The Glee Project, Damian is the Irish boy and Lindsey the blue-eyed girl who plans to go to Nyada.)

I am one episode behind on Once Upon A Time, and loving that show! It really took me by surprise, because at first I was really scared it would feel like some Tenth Kingdom ripoff, but it really doesn't, and I love all the characters, especially Regina. (I think I might ship Regina/Emma a little bit... ^^")

Next show I'm gonna have to catch up on is Hawaii 5-0, I stopped early in the season when I fell behind on everything except, miraculously, The Big Bang Theory. I'm also really looking forward to the second season of Game of Thrones which starts in April. I've started reading the books, and I'm only in book 1 but it's amazing how true to the book the show has been so far. Proof that you can do a faithful adaptation of an epic saga.

Regarding real life, I'm currently on holidays, the exams are over and we get the results at the end of the week. Next week I'll be visiting friends in Scotland, where they've been normal, above-freezing temperatures when we've been dying every time we have to go outside for the past week. It's getting slightly better, though.

I'm also probably going back to Brittany at Easter to see the boyfriend. Initially we weren't supposed to see each other until July and the Japan Expo in Paris (which is sort of the French Comic Con), but yeah, six months is too long. Ugh, long-distance relationships suck, though they're a hundred times better than no relationship at all. Anyways, that's more travelling ahead, and only a couple of weeks before JIB Con in Rome, too! To say that I used to only go spend a week or two somewhere in France each year with my parents, and that was it, now it feels like I'm always between travels.

Lately with a group of friends we've been working on putting together a Minecraft server. It's a lot of work, to all agre on what kind of gameplay we want and then make it all work, figure out which plugins can do what we need and work well together, translating all the in-game sentences, building the first structures, creating the website and organizing the forums, and I've also been working on our own texture pack, but we all have very different tastes so that's been... interesting (the Joss Whedon definition of the word at times).

Pour ceux qui chercheraient à tuer le temps d'ici là, ou qui cherchent l'inspiration, ou qui sont juste curieux, j'ai archivé les liens vers toutes les oeuvres crées lors des précédentes éditions sur archive_sinte! Attention, les images-prompts ne sont pas derrière des cuts. ;)

Accessoirement, en compilant cette liste j'ai découvert que certains liens étaient morts. Il s'agit d'oeuvres réalisées par haganemaru, calliopel, opelleam, florijo et kiranagio (dont le lj a été effacé). Vous pouvez voir desquelles il s'agite via le tag "!lien mort". Salut à toutes et tous! A l'occasion de la Saint-Valentin approchante, je lance le cinquième round du défi Sex Is Not The Enemy! Qu'est-ce donc au juste? Il s'agit d'un défi de promptage par image, dont toutes les images-prompts viennent de l'excellent blog Sex Is Not The Enemy (attention: contenu adulte explicite).

Ce défi multi-fandom a été organisé pour la première fois en anglais par miscellanny, et à rencontré un excellent accueil dans le fandom francophone. En voici donc le cinquième tour. :D

Qu'est-ce que c'est? Comment ça marche?

On vous attribue une image (photo ou éventuellement dessin) en fonction des préférences que vous aurez listées (voir ci-dessous), en réponse à laquelle vous produirez une histoire de la longueur que vous voulez ou une œuvre artistique (dessin, manip...) basée sur cette image.

Les œuvres créées peuvent appartenir à n'importe quel fandom ou être des originaux; vous devrez cependant respecter le sexe des personnes impliquées dans l'image. (En gros si votre photo comporte une homme et une femme, votre œuvre devra comporter un homme et une femme. Vous pouvez tout-à-fait recourir à un genderswap dans votre fic si vous le souhaitez.)

Je vous mettrai un lien vers votre image en réponse à votre commentaire ci-dessous et ferai une liste des prompts attribués.

Une fois votre œuvre terminée vous la mettrez en ligne là où vous le souhaitez (votre lj, votre site internet, fanfiction.net, comme vous voulez, tout ce que je demande c'est qu'on puisse tous y accéder pour lire/admirer ce que vous avez fait). Vous me ferez parvenir (par commentaire, message privé, e-mail, comme vous voudrez) un lien vers votre œuvre en me précisant au moins le titre, le fandom si fandom il y a et le rating de l'œuvre. Je vous encourage à ajouter toute information que vous jugerez pertinente (couple, genre, avertissements, etc.).

Une fois que vous en avez fini avec votre image prompt, vous pouvez tout-à-fait en demander une autre, ou utiliser une des images attribuées à un autre participant.

Si jamais l'image qui vous est attribuée ne vous inspire vraiment pas, vous pourrez, après une période de cinq jours, m'en demander une autre. Mais je tiens à préciser que ce n'est pas parce que l'inspiration ne vient pas immédiatement qu'il faut tout de suite baisser les bras. :)

Le mot d'ordre de ce défi est la bonne humeur! Si vous vous étiez inscrit à une édition précédente mais n'êtes pas parvenu à créer une œuvre à temps, vous êtes les bienvenus si vous souhaitez retenter l'aventure. :)
